TRADITIONAL  BRIDAL  PARTY  ROLES
When it comes to choosing members of your bridal party and deciding what their roles will be, you may be as traditional or as original as you want to be. It's your wedding and you can do it your way! To help ensure you do cover all bases, below is an outline of traditional roles played by each member of the bridal party.

Maid of Honour/Chief Bridesmaid:
Organizes the bridal shower and Hen's night.
Assists to send out the invitations.
Helps keep a record of gifts received.
Pays for her wedding dress and shoes.
Helps the Bride into her wedding gown.
Holds the Bride's bouquet during the ceremony.
Acts as a witness to the signing of the register.
Assists the Bride throughout the wedding day, as required.
Assists the Mothers of the Bride and Groom throughout the wedding day, as required.
Ensures the Bride's dress and veil are always in position.
Helps the Bride change into her going away outfit.
Returns any accessories the Bride had hired.

Bridesmaid:
Assists the Maid of Honour on the wedding day, as required.
Pays for her wedding dress and shoes.
Helps the Bride into her wedding gown.
Helps to organize any junior attendants.
Mixes with all guests during the reception.

Best Man:
Organizes the Buck's night.
Pays for his suit to wear on the wedding day.
Is in charge of the wedding ring prior to the ceremony.
Drives the Groom to the ceremony.
Stands beside the Groom during the ceremony.
Acts as a witness to the signing of the register.
Organizes the payment of church fees with money given to him by the Groom.
Partners the Maid of Honour throughout the day.
Looks after the Bridesmaids and the Parents of the Bride throughout the day.
Helps to assemble guests for photographs.
Ensures all guests have transport to the reception.
Organizes those who will be giving speeches at the reception.
Makes a speech at the reception.
Responds to any telegrams and to the Bridesmaid's toast.
Assists the Groom on the wedding day, as required.
Looks after airline tickets, passports etc for the couple's honeymoon, then hands them to the Groom when leaving.
Helps with anything needing to be done after the reception is completed.
Returns any hired attire for the Groom.

Groomsmen:
Pays for his suit to wear on the wedding day.
Assists the Best Man as required.
Welcomes guests and if there are no ushers, then shows guests to their seats.
Hand out order of service booklets to guests.
Decorates the newlywed's car.
Partners the Bridesmaids throughout the day.

Ushers:
Should be at the venue a half hour before the ceremony is scheduled to start.
Show guests to their seats.
Hand out order of service booklets to guests.
